These watches are affordable and adorable, and despite the totally reasonable price they do not look or feel low-quality or cheap. In fact, watches at these price ranges seem like the best value you can get.

What Makes a Watch Nice?
That seems like an awfully philosophical question, but if you insist.
First of all, it has nothing to do with how well the watch works. I mean, yes, sure, that’s probably not true for lots of people and the makers of expensive watches will always preach about the “precision,” the miniscule and unimaginably complicated engineering, blah blah. Some people hike or dive or something and need a legit watch. That’s all well and good, but every one of us has a god damn phone with us at all times which can never tell the time incorrectly.
At this point the only thing that makes a watch worth it is if you like it. You might just like the look, maybe it is particularly comfortable and you like something on your wrist. The point is, you aren’t buying it for function, so you sure as fuck don’t need to spend extra money on a watch that tells time more accurately. Just buy one you like, which actually makes this a much simpler purchase than most.
Watch Sizes
When shopping for watches and you see sizes like “28mm” and “44mm” these are the sizes of the watch faces. If you’ve worn more than one watch before, you know the size of the watch face can make a big difference, especially if you have small/thin wrists. The big or completely oversized watch faces can look cool, can be kind of ridiculous, but if that’s what you’re looking for then you want to pay attention to that watch size number.
- Under 34mm – Small
- Those super adorable, super tiny watch faces, almost always designed for women.
- 34mm – 38mm – Midsize
- Generally speaking, 38mm and under are women’s sizes, though you do occasionally see the slimmer men’s watches at this size.
- 39mm – 42mm – Standard
- Probably a size most have worn before. Should be comfortable for all except those with particularly tiny or bony wrists.
- 43mm – 46mm – Large
- Now we are getting into the bigger, bulkier watches that are typically made for men. Can be a really good look, but can be uncomfortable.
- 47mm and Over – Extra Large
- These are pretty ridiculous, but as mentioned they can often look cool and with more space there is more room to incorporate cool design details. Some of these are so layered with different grooves and metals, or have an intentionally-emphasized mechanical chic design that make it look like you have a tank on your wrist.
